Q: How do I know if this what I need for my spot? I recently got a used vintage spotlight for application on a 1980s Ford Police car. Is there a model number, other then S6, that I can used to ensure if light is correct for 1986 Ford Crown Victoria LTD, and also if the bracket kit #184 is what I need.

A: No, 184 installation kit is used for passenger side mount on a 2008 Ford F150. A 184RH kit should be used for driver side. They should be used to mount spotlight with GM length shaft.

Spotlight fit is determined by shaft and mounting kit. We have an application search in our searches section on our website, there is also a search on the main spotlight section page. Both can be used to determine parts for make model and year of vehicle. A 1986 Ford Crown Victoria uses a spotlight with a V length shaft mounted with a 184 installation kit for driver side mount or 184RH kit for passenger side. Standard V shaft is 7.5" exposed shaft and 13" center to center.
