Q: My son has a 1985 Ford Bronco that he is trying to get a LED bulb/shell housing replacement. The Bronco is "retired" from law enforcement, and he wants the broken rusted housing replaced, and upgraded to LED if not too expensive. The post mount light handle is fine. It's the housing and clips that hold the light that are rusted, along with the ring. Outside measurements of the silver ring are 6". Not sure what size the bulb is, as I'm trying to get a Christmas gift to my son without him knowing. All that I have heard him say is that the clips that hold the bulb in are badly rusted. He doesn't think they would be reusable. Can we get a black housing, LED bulb kit complete with clips, that could fit? If so, what other details can I get for you? Would the products be returnable if we needed something different? If we needed to simply buy a new light (arm, all) would we need another installation kit (through the post kit)? If we could get the light/housing, would we need a wiring conversion for the old halogen bulb into the new LED bulb? Thanks so much. -- PS - He's pretty sure it's a Unity light to start with, but how can we tell for sure if your products will fit our existing if we can get a LED kit?

A: This is a PAR 46 SAE Spot rated housing. It can use several lamps. Most common are U-H7635 Sealed Beam Halogen lamp (325 Series), U-7682 H3 Halogen Lamp (330 Series), U-8547 LED Lamp (335 Series).

If you are asking about connecting the ring to the shell, the tabs are placed into the shell and the ring is rotated like the lid of a jar and then secured with a screw.

If you are asking about the head connecting to the shaft of the spotlight there is a nut and washer combo that is used to secure the head.

A: This kit does not include the lamp. It only includes what is shown in the picture. Halogen Lamp is U-7682.

If it is our light, This 7662-0002 housing assembly should fit. The old head of the light would be removed where it connects to the shaft and this would be replacement. For LED lamp use U-8547. Parts order would be returnable for refund minus shipping costs.
