Q: I want to do a cowl mount on my 1973 f100. my search says I need a 110 mount. I have a s6 light that that I took off a late 60's ford truck that's about a 12 inch shaft. will that length be ok and is there any other thing I need that I don't realize? Thanks for any help

1: Yes this spotlight can be used on a 1986 Ford Bronco. It is the spotlight that would have been used when the vehicle first came out, but any spotlight with a "GM" length shaft will work.

2: Depends on what you mean by biggest. Is you mean size of the light, it is 6" diameter light which is the biggest size light we have. If you mean most powerful light no. This spotlight outputs 160,000 candle power. The strongest spotlight for your vehicle is 340GM HID lamp which outputs 600,000 candlepower. Its a specialized light and expensive so the next most powerful option is 330GM H3 Halogen spotlight at 245,000 candlepower (this is what police use)

3: 225GM-H is not available in black as it is a chrome plated metal housing. 330GM-0002 H3 Halogen and 335GM-0002 LED are available in black ABS housing. 340GM is also only available in chrome plated metal housing.

1973 Ford F100 needs a spotlight with a shaft length of 9" exposed shaft and 14 1/2" center to center. If a shorter shaft is used the light may not be able to reach all the way through the pillar. We do not support the use of a longer shaft, but it can sometimes work. Longer shaft can cause the light to reach to far into the vehicle interfering with the steering wheel or other driver operations. It can also impact air bag deployment.

110 installation kit is correct for driver side cowl mount. 110RH installation kit should be used for passenger side mount.

Exposed shaft – the amount of tubing visible between the head housing and handle housing when the spotlight is assembled.

Center to center – the distance between where the gears mesh in the handle and where the gears mesh in the head when the spotlight is assembled.
